“It is not simply a matter of generating content, but of creating an encounter of hearts.”

The Christian faith was brought to the Americas by missionaries who risked their lives to spread the Gospel to people who had not yet heard the name of Jesus. When they arrived to new land, they would plant a cross as a sign of the Great Commission in Matthew 28, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (RSV-CE2).
Today we live in the shade of this planted cross. With a church on every corner in the country, you would think that the missionaries’ work has been accomplished and that we are a nation of disciples, but that is sadly far from the truth.
People who call themselves “Christian” are not only decreasing in number, but many also practice what the past four Popes have called “practical atheism.” We go to church on Sundays, we have Bibles on our nightstands, but we don’t invite Jesus to radically change us and neglect to daily pick up our crosses.
To be a disciple of Christ we need to not only call Him “my Lord and my God,” but also closely listen to Him, obey Him, trust in Him, and follow Him like sheep following their Shepherd. We must become like little children, who although do not have any money, education, or power of their own, fully trust in their Father to provide, intercede, and protect them.
Faith was not simply a call for those who saw Jesus face-to-face, nor an inheritance for our parents or grandparents to pass on to us, but an active step we must take ourselves. This call does not look the same for everyone. When Jesus calls us to faith, each story is different. When we let Jesus fully into our lives, He changes everything. He will call you to use the unique talents, abilities, and story He has given you in ways you never expected.
The saints are often compared to stained glass windows. Each one is unique – its own color, shape, and size. When they are brought together and the sun shines through, they reveal the beautiful and complex story God has told of Himself through each of their lives.
At Planted Cross, our mission is to share the stories of everyday people who have answered Jesus’s call in their lives and allowed Him to shine through the unique talents, abilities, and story He has given them. As our missionary fathers planted the cross in the soil we now call our homeland, we now must plant the cross in our hearts and let it take root so that we might bear fruit.
We created Planted Cross as a way to platform amazing stories of faith from ordinary people who we had run into in our daily lives. You don’t need to be a high profile person or a Saint to have an impactful story. Planted Cross gives a voice to the supernatural stories God is telling through our everyday lives.
